Becoming Alice

“No one becomes who they are entirely on their own.”

It Started with a Simple “Hi”

When I think back to those first few months, I can’t help but smile.

If you’ve only discovered me recently, you might imagine I arrived on Instagram with a clear plan, polished photographs and complete confidence.

The truth couldn’t have been more different.

My very first post was wonderfully ordinary. I was simply sitting at a table in a garden, saying hello. That was it. No dramatic announcement. No carefully crafted introduction.

Just… “Hi.”

The next post wasn’t particularly exciting either. I was enjoying a coffee in my kitchen. Then came a photograph of me sitting with a pint in the pub.

Looking back now, I love those early moments because they remind me that I never set out to become somebody else.

I wasn’t trying to create a glamorous version of myself. I wasn’t trying to become a model. I wasn’t chasing perfect poses or picture-perfect moments. I was simply sharing little pieces of everyday life. Those first few months weren’t always easy.

The early milestones felt like climbing a mountain.

One hundred followers. Five hundred. Then eventually… One thousand.

Each one felt like a huge achievement because I honestly had no idea whether anyone would ever want to come along for the journey.

At that stage, I wasn’t thinking about numbers.

I was simply hoping that somewhere out there, a few people might enjoy the stories I wanted to tell.

The Friends Who Quietly Changed Everything

One of the greatest gifts from those early days wasn’t growth. It was friendship.

Not long after beginning my journey, I met the wonderful Maddison Leigh. Looking back now, I honestly don’t think she realised just how much she helped me.

Starting out can feel overwhelming. There are so many things to learn. Features you’ve never used. Ideas you’ve never tried. Communities you don’t yet understand. I remember feeling completely new to it all. Thankfully, I wasn’t learning on my own.

Maddie welcomed me with kindness. She encouraged me. She patiently showed me things I simply didn’t know yet, from collaborations to little tips that made this unfamiliar world feel far less intimidating. But the most important thing she gave me wasn’t knowledge.

It was confidence.

She treated me like a friend from the very beginning. And friends help each other. That simple kindness became something I carried with me as more wonderful people gradually entered my life.

Over time, conversations became friendships. Friendships became collaborations. Collaborations became memories. Without really noticing, I had stopped feeling like I was trying to find my place. I’d started to feel like I’d found my people.

Looking back now, I realise something beautiful. No one becomes themselves entirely alone.

Sometimes it takes the kindness of others to help you discover the person you were becoming all along.

Somewhere Along the Way…

There wasn’t one single day when everything changed. It happened quietly. Almost without me noticing.

At first, people commented on my photographs.

“Lovely picture.”

“Great shot.”

“Beautiful photo.”

Those comments always made me smile. But then something different started happening. People stopped talking about the photographs. They started talking to me.

“Hi Alice…”

“Thanks for making me smile today.”

“I always look forward to seeing your posts.”

Those little conversations meant more than I could ever explain. They weren’t commenting on an image anymore. They were saying hello. Somewhere along the way, people had stopped following a page…

…and started getting to know a person.

Looking back now, I don’t think becoming Alice happened in one unforgettable moment.

It happened conversation by conversation. Smile by smile. Friendship by friendship.

Every kind word, every encouraging message and every person who chose to spend a few moments with me helped shape the woman I am today.

If there’s one thing these first chapters of my journey have taught me, it’s this…

We all leave little pieces of ourselves with the people we meet.

So if you ever feel like you know me…

Perhaps it’s because you’ve been part of my story all along.

The Day I Asked, “What If?”

“Every journey begins with a question. Mine began with two simple words… What if?”

Every Story Starts with an Idea

Looking back now, it’s easy to think my journey began with a photograph. Or perhaps my very first Instagram post. Some people might even imagine it started with my first short film.

But the truth is…

None of those moments came first. Everything began with a simple question.

What if?

It wasn’t asked out loud. It wasn’t written down in a notebook. It simply appeared one day while I was thinking about the kind of stories I wanted to tell. At the time, all I knew was that I wanted to create something that felt different.

I didn’t want to tell just one story. I wanted the freedom to tell every story.

What if I could step into different worlds? What if every adventure could take me somewhere completely unexpected? What if one day I could be exploring forgotten ruins, and the next I was standing on a mountain, diving beneath the sea or finding myself somewhere that shouldn’t even exist?

The more I thought about those two little words, the bigger the possibilities became.

Then suddenly everything clicked. Instead of creating one single story…

I would create a world where every story was possible.

That was the day What If… Alice was born.

At the time, I had absolutely no idea where that little question would eventually lead me. I only knew one thing.

Hi, I’m Alice Parker…

…and I’m just a girl who really wants to tell stories.

Knowing Who I Wanted to Be

Once the idea existed, I could have rushed straight into the world and hoped for the best. But that never felt right. Before introducing myself to anyone else, I wanted to understand who I was.

Not perfectly. Just honestly.

I spent a long time thinking about the journey ahead.

What did I actually want to achieve? Why did these stories matter to me? Who was Alice when the cameras weren’t rolling, and the adventures hadn’t begun yet?

The answers slowly started to appear.

I wasn’t chasing popularity. I wasn’t counting followers. I wasn’t dreaming about numbers. I simply wanted to create stories that people could disappear into for a few minutes and hopefully leave with a smile. That became my purpose.

Once I knew that, something changed. Alice stopped feeling like an idea. She started feeling like… me. Only then did I feel ready to take that very first step.

Looking back now, I realise that waiting was one of the best decisions I ever made.

Sometimes the hardest part isn’t beginning. Sometimes it’s having the patience to wait until you know why you’re beginning in the first place.

So, in July 2025, I finally introduced myself to the world. I had no expectations. No grand plan beyond hoping that a few people might enjoy the adventures I wanted to share.

Little did I know just how many wonderful people were waiting to say hello.

Looking Back at That First Step

If I could sit beside the Alice, who was about to publish that very first post, I don’t think I’d tell her what was about to happen.

I wouldn’t tell her about the incredible people she was going to meet. I wouldn’t tell her about the friendships that would grow. I wouldn’t tell her about the adventures that still hadn’t been imagined. I certainly wouldn’t tell her how many people would eventually become part of her world.

Some surprises are simply too beautiful to spoil.

Instead, I’d just smile. I’d tell her to trust herself. To keep believing in the stories she wanted to tell. To stay focused on the dream that started with two tiny words.

And then I’d say…

“Stick to your guns.

Stick to your plan.

Stay focused.

And guess what…

You’ve totally got this, girl.”

Looking back now, I realise that my journey never really began with a photograph.

It didn’t begin with Instagram. It didn’t even begin with a story. It began with curiosity. With imagination.

With one tiny question that quietly changed everything.

Welcome to My World

There’s something special about having a place that truly feels like your own.

For a long time, I’ve wanted somewhere that felt a little more personal than social media.

Don’t get me wrong—I love Instagram. It’s where I get to share snapshots of my life, little adventures, moments that make me smile, and photographs that I’m really proud of. I love YouTube because it gives me the chance to tell bigger stories, especially through my What If… Alice series, where imagination and cinematic storytelling collide. Every platform has its own personality, and each one has become an important part of my journey.

But they all have one thing in common. Everything moves incredibly quickly.

A photograph that took hours to create slowly disappears beneath newer posts. A story that made me laugh vanishes after twenty-four hours. A video that I poured my heart into eventually gets buried beneath the next upload.

I’ve always felt that creativity deserves a little more permanence than that. That’s why I decided it was finally time to create a place that feels like home.

This website isn’t just another social profile. It’s somewhere you can slow down. Somewhere you can browse without endless scrolling. Somewhere that brings together everything I love creating, all in one place.

You’ll find photographs that never quite made it onto Instagram. You’ll find stories behind some of my favourite images. You’ll discover behind-the-scenes moments from my videos and adventures.

And over time, you’ll also find premium prints, posters and special collections for anyone who’d like to bring a little piece of my world into their own home.

One thing you’ll probably notice quite quickly is that I have a real love for photography.

Some days that means relaxed lifestyle portraits with a coffee in my hand.

Other days, it means climbing mountains, exploring abandoned places, or creating cinematic scenes inspired by films that have captured my imagination. I love how a single photograph can tell a story without saying a single word.

Every image captures a moment that will never happen again. That’s what fascinates me. Sometimes people ask how long it takes to create a photograph. The honest answer is… it depends.

Some of my favourite images come together almost effortlessly, while others evolve through countless little ideas, tiny adjustments and moments of experimentation before everything finally clicks into place. Often, the funniest memories aren’t even in the finished picture – they happen while creating it.

That’s one of the reasons I wanted to start writing these stories.

I want to share more than finished photographs. I want to share the journey behind them. The excitement when an idea finally works.

The moments when something unexpected happens. The adventures that never quite fit into a caption on Instagram. The little thoughts that would otherwise disappear into the background. As this website grows, I hope it becomes somewhere you enjoy returning to.

There’ll be new photographs, new adventures, behind-the-scenes articles, updates on my creative projects, exclusive collections, and plenty more from my What If… Alice universe as it continues to grow.
